Chapter 7 – Listening And Spoken Language Strategies

Explanation:

This strategy doesn't require an example because it can be done any time with any phrase, word or sound! As stated in the definition, whispering is a form of acoustic highlighting. Not only does this give the child the opportunity to practice listening to soft sounds, it also gets the to practice speaking in soft sounds. I note a lot of my kids speak loudly so that they are able to hear themselves, we practice whispering to help regulate their intensity. Whispering games are also really fun to incorporate during sessions with other kids and parents!
